Generator sets can be paired with a power unit, but it is imperative to note that generator engines use a fuel injection pump specific to generator applications. These pumps come with horsepower ratings for continuous, prime, or standby power. Usually, industrial power units have a fuel pump that's rated for a fixed rpm application. The governors on generator engines are rated for a specific duty cycle to maintain fixed rpm for clean electricity generation. Note: Units may be converted for generator use, but we do not perform do that work here at Big Bear Engine Company.
About Component Build Power Units:
Our long block and extended long block assemblies are considered ‘component builds’. A new component build power unit is an engine assembly that has been built back to popular configurations using roughly 90% OEM parts, 10% aftermarket parts when available.
New component build power units do include limited rebuilt and/or remanufactured components when necessary, but these are non-critical wear parts such as aftercoolers, exhaust manifolds, water inlet and outlet connections, gears, gear housings, and the like. Each build cycle we undertake is different and follows emissions compliance and rebuilding standards governing re-use guidelines.
